Welcome to the third installment of my Old vs. New series! If you missed my earlier posts, you can check out the first one here and the second one here. In short, I’ve taken the opportunity to refine and update some of my products in anticipation of launching in the UK and EU later this year. Given the specific labeling requirements and formula evaluations we’d need to go through, now seemed like the best time to take the formulas I love and elevate them even further. Read on as I run through what these changes mean for the new Retinol Treatment Oil!
What It Is
Retinol Treatment Oil is a fresh iteration of my Etoile with Retinol Treatment Oil. The new product name is definitely easier to pronounce—French can be tricky! Underneath that new title, not much has changed. It’s still the same retinol-infused oil blend you know and love.
How Are They Similar?
The new Retinol Treatment Oil features the same cast as the original. The gentle, yet effective concentration of retinol remains unchanged. It still has all the same antioxidant-rich plant oils as before.
What’s Changed?
While we haven’t swapped any of the oils in the formula, we did tweak the ratio of those oils for a more balanced blend. As an example, evening primrose oil has dropped down a spot on the ingredient list. I still love evening primrose! However, its aroma can come across a bit strong and may not be everyone’s cup of tea. By finessing the ratio of evening primrose oil, the new Retinol Treatment Oil gains a more neutral scent. We’ve made similar adjustments with the overall oil blend that provide a more wearable texture that sinks in and feels effortless on the skin.
How Do I Use It?
- On its own, night or day (just remember to follow up with SPF for daytime use).
- Mixed with Hydrate Facial Serum. The combination of water-based hydration and oil-based emollients creates your own custom moisturizer.
- Add a few drops to the Performance Cream for an antioxidant boost.
- Get creative! Mix your own skincare cocktails to suit your individual needs.
Happy mixing!
XO,
Jordan
